Mixed body: 1955 Swallow Doretti

As we have already mentioned in this post, the Doretti was built by Swallow Coachbuilding Company which, before this car, used to build small, economy cars: this was a true exception in their production but unfortunately it didn’t last long.

This car is based on a tubular steel chassis, Triumph TR2 mechanical components and an aluminum skin and, in this particular car, the bad thing is that there is still a lot of work to do, the good thing is that the car is naked and in this state it cannot hide bad surprises.

Only 263 specimens were made in two years only: 1954 and 1955, and this makes it a rare, extremely rare car, so it is very important that all parts are there, except those in common with the TR2 which can easily be found on the market. Seller says drivers floor and trunk pan were missing as well as grille, windscreen, seats but he has the soft top frame, engine and transmission. Find it for sale at $12,500 here near Lake Toxaxway, TN.
