Extreme swb: 1937 Brakus 8 Custom

ScreenShot001

This odd car is named with the same surname of its builder: George S. Brakus, a former carriage builder and foundry pattern maker. The seller says that this car is a patchwork of a 1937 Hudson Terraplane (front) and a sectioned 1936 DeSoto. The 115 c.i.d. flathead engine is said to be scratch built thanks to mr. Brakus foundry knowledge: the seller says that all the engine parts come with the car as well.

From this angle it seems more a Photoshop job than a real car: this is what we call an “head-turner”. It’s however great to see in what conditions this car is survived till now.

Interior’s corduroy seems original and, with the exception of the missing floors, all the parts seem to be there. Find it here for sale at an optimistic $70,000 asking price in Butte, MT.
