Bigger than usual: 1970 Abarth 1300 Scorpione

s3

One of the most iconic Italian bodies of the 70s, built by Francis Lombardi, contains not an 850 CC but a 1300 cc engine.

We are therefore talking about an Abarth 1300 Scorpione which, however, in this specific specimen (in excellent condition) has a flaw, if we talk about originality: the engine is not original. We don’t say it for sure because we have verified its number, but for a much more obvious reason: the engine currently installed is of Abarth origin certainly, but it is a twin cam engine at the time installed on other cars, such as the Fiat 124 Spider.

In addition to its configuration, the currently installed engine certainly has a displacement greater than 1300 cc which, for many, is not necessarily a negative fact, on the contrary: we can imagine how fun this car can be, obviously if all this goes into the background compared to originality. Find it for sale at €52,000 (today $56,000) here in Forchheim, Germany.
