The seller of this curious car says that this barchetta has been found just out of Mosport Raceway, Canada, and looks like someone wanted to build his own dream racer.
Of course during the fifties a lot of petrolheads built cars in their own garages, however few of them had good taste and sense for proportions: the builder of this body knew his job for sure. The body looks like something among period Jaguars, Allard, Ferrari and Aston Martin race cars: a good mix indeed.
Unfortunately the seller says that the original chassis and drivetrain were lost so he replaced both with modern components coming from a Corvette C3, so the reliability of this car is now good but for the car history sake this car deserved a period Buick, Chevy or Cadillac engine. On the other side, it has a beautiful dashboard full of gauges clearly coming from some period airplane. Find it for sale at £29,000 (today $45,000) here in Ottawa, Canada.
