This 1968 Porsche 912 wears the vin #12800001, so it’s the first body made by Karmann coachworks and, according to Porsche Certificate of Authenticity asked by the owner, it was produced on 07/27/1967. The seller says only that the engine is correct (so it’s not original) and that it has a rare 5-speed option.
The same certificate says that the original color was Tangerine: the current look however shows a paint which goes from the faded silver to the rust red, especially on the roof and around the pillars. The floors too are way far to be acceptable: this car needs a deep restoration.
Interiors are cooked like the rest of the car which, in some way, could be an interesting item as long as the vin numbers will count in the classic cars market. Find it for sale here in Tarzana, CA, with bidding just under $1,000 and no reserve price.
